Why the height matters more than the frequency
Most lawns in the south metro are Kentucky bluegrass or a bluegrass-fescue blend, and the single most common thing done wrong to them is cutting too short. A short cut looks tidy for four days and then costs you the rest of the month: shallow roots, faster moisture loss, and bare soil warm enough for crabgrass to germinate in.
We run higher than most — around three inches through spring, higher again once August heat sets in — and never take more than a third of the blade in one pass. That's the old one-third rule and it holds up because it's about the plant, not about appearances. A taller canopy shades its own root zone, holds moisture through a dry week, and crowds out weeds without anything being sprayed.
The other half of it is blade sharpness. A dull blade tears the leaf instead of cutting it, and a torn tip browns off within a day — which is why some lawns look faintly grey the morning after a cut. We sharpen on a schedule rather than waiting for the damage to be visible.
Same crew, same day — and why that's the actual product
Anyone can cut grass once. The thing that's genuinely hard, and the thing most homeowners have been burned on, is showing up on the same day every week for six months without being chased.
We build fixed routes rather than taking one-off jobs, which is what makes that possible. Your property has a day. The crew that has it in week one has it in week twenty. They know where the sprinkler heads are, which gate sticks, and that the dog is out on Thursday afternoons — none of which survives a rotating roster of subcontractors.
Weather moves things occasionally, and when it does you hear from us rather than finding out by looking at the lawn. Storms compress a week; we catch up rather than skipping.
You don't get billed for a cut the lawn didn't need
In a normal Minnesota season there are weeks — usually deep in a dry August — where the grass genuinely hasn't grown enough to justify a visit. Cutting anyway is easy money and it's bad for the lawn, because mowing a drought-stressed plant is another injury it doesn't need.
We skip those weeks and don't invoice them. It costs us revenue and it's the reason a lot of our customers stay, so on balance it's not much of a sacrifice.

Weekly mowing is quoted as a flat per-visit rate based on the mowable area, the obstacles on the lot and the slope. Sloped or heavily obstructed lots take longer and cost more, and we say so at quote stage rather than adding it later. The number is honored for the whole season, there's no contract, and weeks the lawn doesn't need a cut aren't billed.

Do you bag the clippings?+
Not by default, and that's deliberate — mulched clippings return nitrogen to the lawn and disappear within a day at a proper cut height. We bag on request, and we bag automatically in the first cut of spring and during heavy leaf drop when the volume would smother the turf.
What happens if it rains on my mow day?+
We shift you, usually to the next dry day, and you hear from us. Mowing saturated turf ruts the lawn and leaves clumps that smother what's underneath, so it isn't worth doing on schedule for the sake of it.
Is there a contract?+
No. Flat weekly rate, cancel whenever. The route discipline is what keeps customers, not a signature.
Do you mow every week all season?+
Weekly is the default, roughly mid-April through late October. In a dry stretch where the lawn genuinely hasn't grown, we skip the visit and don't bill it.
